Antimicrobial consumption: Comparison of three different data collection methods

The increasing incidence of antimicrobial resistance represents a global threat. As result, surveillance programmes monitoring consumption and in animals have been implemented several countries throughout the world. However, such depend on accurate detailed collection data consumption. For this reason, aim longitudinal study was to compare consistency between three different methods. Antimicrobial associated udder health were collected from 20 veterinary practices 92 dairy farms for 18 months. compared sources were: 1) extracted practice software 2) farm treatment journals 3) on-farm discarded drug packages (garbage). Two procedures chosen analyse issued journals: only complete entries analysed with missing dosage supplemented information provided by Swiss Compendium Veterinary Medicinal Products. divided into intramammary preparations used during lactation (IMM), dry off (DRY) systemic treatments (SYS).
